Pillars

About Our Pillars

At NOAHH, our core pillars of Health, Education, and Advocacy are meticulously crafted to support the well-being of the Hispanic/Latino community. These pillars work in harmony to provide you, the visitor, with access to culturally competent healthcare, enriching educational resources, and robust advocacy to ensure equitable health services.

Together, these pillars not only aim to enhance your individual health outcomes but also to foster a community that is healthier, more informed, and actively engaged in shaping its healthcare landscape.

Health

The Health pillar focuses on ensuring the Hispanic community in Northeast Ohio has access to culturally and linguistically appropriate healthcare services. This pillar connects community members with healthcare providers who are both culturally aware and capable of addressing the unique health needs of the Hispanic population. Activities under this pillar include health education programs, such as workshops and health fairs conducted in Spanish, aimed at promoting preventive healthcare and disease management. The ultimate goal of the Health pillar is to make healthcare not just accessible but also relevant and effective, ensuring that the community receives care that respects their cultural background and effectively addresses their health concerns.

Education

Our Education Initiative is dedicated to enhancing the health literacy of the Hispanic community in Northeast Ohio through targeted educational resources and activities. This initiative collaborates closely with healthcare partners to deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate health education, aiming to close the gap between the Hispanic community's access to healthcare services and their understanding of these services. Through the creation and distribution of educational materials focused on various health topics, NOAHH addresses specific health concerns prevalent within the community. Additionally, the initiative actively engages the community through events like health fairs, where discussions about health issues, myth debunking, and stigma addressing take place, making health information not only accessible but also relevant and practical. The overarching goal of the Education Pillar is to empower individuals to make informed decisions about their health, thereby fostering a healthier, well-informed community.

Advocacy

Our Advocacy Initiative is dedicated to ensuring that the Latino community is adequately represented in healthcare systems. We focus on advocating for policies that provide equitable healthcare access and push for the inclusion of Spanish-speaking healthcare providers who are culturally sensitive to the needs of the Hispanic community. This initiative actively works to enhance the cultural competence of medical professionals, promotes bilingual services, and raises awareness about prevalent health issues within our community. By empowering you with necessary health education and resources, NOAHH aims to not only address current challenges but also drive long-term improvements in healthcare equity and quality. Our commitment is to break down barriers to healthcare access, ensuring that you receive comprehensive, culturally sensitive care tailored to the unique needs of the Latino community.
